Black-Owned Brands Gift Guide 2020
Well, where has 2020 gone? Where have we been all this time? Most likely at home washing our hands because of the pandemic. Christmas is next week, Hanukkah is already underway, Kwanzaa starts right after Christmas, and then its New Year's. Whatever you celebrate this Holiday season, or after for the post-season sales, I'd like to share with you some more Black owned small businesses and brands that you should shop from. Of course I will have links and pictures and it'll be in no particular order. And honestly, if you want to utilize this post as a super last minute gift guide, you better be ready for those high fast-shipping costs or just let your gift recipients know their presents are coming late-late. It's all good and most likely expected because most of the world is doing all their holiday shopping online and the post office and courier services are being stretched thin. So remember to say thank you to your mail-person!

Top 10 Amazon Quarantine Favorites
We've all seen Amazon favorites videos on YouTube and recently during quarantine, "TikTok made me buy it" videos, about interesting Amazon finds, have been especially popular. I am an avid Amazon shopper so I have seen so many of these videos and even blog posts but I've noticed a lot of the products that are promoted are gimmicky kitchen products or let's face it, a room projector. I don't know about y'all, but while staying home for the last few months, I didn't find a need to have a glowing galaxy projected onto my walls, but I mean to each their own. Let me tell you, there were a lot of "useless" Amazon purchases I made, but I thought it would be far more useful to talk about my favorite most practical purchases while on lock down.
Support Black-Owned Brands
Happy #BlackoutDay2020 or happy first Tuesday of July 2020! A lot has been happening in the world. While we are still amidst a global health pandemic we are also continuously confronted with the reality of another pandemic, Racism. Many people are finally realizing the reality that systematic oppression and racism are very much alive today. It's just not enough to "not be racist," people have to actively be antiracist. Although there are countless companies and corporations pledging to support the cause, I want to use my voice and platform here to help bridge the inequity by continuing to support Black owned brands and sharing them on here. So here is a list of some Black owned businesses to shop from and support today!
Photo Editing
Hello Lovelies!
One of my suggestions for things to do while at home or during social distancing is do something artistic or practice hobbies. You can check out my full list here. So I decided to work on my aesthetic photo editing skills by setting up a little overlay photo shoot with some of my favorite cute pieces. Might I add, that some things from this shoot are from Amazon, Huda Beauty, Fenty Beauty, Victoria's Secret, and Poshmark. I added links below to where you can find some of the smaller accessories and beauty products. Note that these include affiliate links in which this blog receives a small commission from. I used my android phone to take all the pictures and used different phone editing apps to see what I like. These are some of the results. Things to do at Home while Social Distancing
I don't know about you but, I didn't expect the first 3 months of 2020 to be this overwhelming on such a global scale (to say the very least). It was just a few months ago that some of us were scrolling through social media reading about the Australia bush-fires, memes about the possibility of WW3, and even collectively feeling the pang of loss with the death of Kobe Bryant, Gianna Bryant, and the 7 other passengers of the deadly helicopter crash in Calabasas Hills. It's been exhausting and scary. Now we are struck with the reality of a global pandemic with the Covid-19 outbreak. In times like this, I believe we all need to remember our own feelings are valid and that prioritizing our mental health is important. But let's not forget about being kind and considerate of all people especially those who are homeless, old, and highly susceptible to respiratory illnesses or any sicknesses. Let's show appreciation to health and medical professionals working around the clock and listen to credible health safety sources about what we can do to decrease the spread of Corona virus. This means coughing or sneezing in your sleeve or a tissue, washing your hangs consistently, wiping down frequently used surfaces, consulting with a doctor if you don't fell well, and practicing as much social distancing as possible.
Easy DIY Chocker NecklaceI've been known to carry a lot of clutter in my wallet, and I mean old receipts, chapstick, necklaces and other random stuff, so I like having a big wristlet type wallet with a lot of space. So, apparently I carry a little too much for even something that's as thick as a descent length novel. It all started when I got this cute double zippered nude wallet from Charlotte Russe that worked so well for me until both zippers broke. I do like a lot of their stuff, but c'mon, if I'm paying more than $10 for a wallet, it needs to last better. Even one of my friends, who had the same wallet as me, had the same experience of the zippers jamming and breaking. I left the wallet as is but after a while I got paranoid that I might lose something very important so I bought a new wallet, but of course I didn't just want to throw away a cute $12 wallet. Sorry, that's my cheap-self reasoning; so I decided to do a DIY choker out of the wristlet strap because it just so happened to fit the circumference of neck. Also currently using the storage/zippered part of the wallet to hold letters and random stuff on my desk. So without further ado, the DIY choker out of a wristlet.
Hey Lovely people! These are some of my favorite empty beauty/hygiene products from the past Fall and Winter months. I'm also including somethings that I started using at the beginning of Fall that have become some of my all-time favorite beauty products ever! I know that’s big of me to say but, I mean it, these are amazing and they just work well for me. And a lot of these are drug store products, so you know my “broke college girl on a budget” self is here for y’all!
Enjoy! Recently, I got to attend the Vevo Certified Live concert featuring the band 5 Seconds of Summer. I remember when first heard their song She Looks So Perfect over a year ago and loved it. Now I got to see them in person!
It was a really exciting experience that I got to share with my best friend, who's also a fan. She was pretty much the official unofficial photographer for the evening because I left my camera in the car the whole time. Nonetheless, the band's set was great, I got some free concert swag, and some minor hearing loss but it's all good. I enjoy using makeup. There's a certain confidence and artistic factor that I find so appealing in it. Even with the many beauty gurus I watch on YouTube, I don't believe I'm all that good at doing makeup just yet. At least not on other people.
As much as I enjoy having pictures taken of the outfits I come up with, I also enjoy taking pictures of other people and places. There are many beautiful places to visit in California and I've gotten some great shots of them from all over LA. This past weekend I attended two weddings and visited a botanical garden. The first wedding I visited was in Long Beach and the other in San Diego. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to take many shots from the weddings but I have a lot of photos from my visit to the botanical garden.
