Photo Editing
Hello Lovelies!
One of my suggestions for things to do while at home or during social distancing is do something artistic or practice hobbies. You can check out my full list here. So I decided to work on my aesthetic photo editing skills by setting up a little overlay photo shoot with some of my favorite cute pieces. Might I add, that some things from this shoot are from Amazon, Huda Beauty, Fenty Beauty, Victoria's Secret, and Poshmark. I added links below to where you can find some of the smaller accessories and beauty products. Note that these include affiliate links in which this blog receives a small commission from. I used my android phone to take all the pictures and used different phone editing apps to see what I like. These are some of the results.
Somethings that I learned already is that not all app suggestions are all they're cut out to be. I tried other popular phone apps such as Snow, Prequel, and Nebi and I didn't like what they had to offer for the aesthetic I was going for. Plus they don't provide enough free quality features.
A kind of short overview of my thoughts:
In-phone editing, meaning using the phone's system's operations for adjusting the photos taken, is so under rated. You can also still get great shots pre-editing by adjusting the ISO and white balance before taking the photo. I find that by doing that when you use your phone's editing features it's not over the top. I only really adjusted the brightness, exposure, contrast, sharpness, saturation, and white balance for the shots below. The VSCO app might be one of the most popular, and rightly so, downloadable editing apps. I've used this for years and even though there is a subscription option to for presets, the quality of the free features are still really good. Go ahead a check out my VSCO gallery @adakalon for more of my pictures. I found that M3 and HB2 presets worked well with this overlay; I even played with the grain. I also liked DOG3 and E5 but those cost money to use. And lastly the Pomelo app was interesting. This was my first time using it and I'm still learning. A big part of it is the PRO feature where you have to pay for a greater selection of options to work with as well as use other people's created photo editing recipes. I like that option but I honestly don't want to pay for it. One thing I really like so far is that the tune section, which includes regular features like contrast, brightness, and temperature, also has whites, blacks, and ambiance adjustments.
Right now, these are my favorite phone editing apps. Especially, for this warm, glam, luxury aesthetic. I wanted to be able to have a wide range of editing options, and these worked for me. I use other apps too such as Huji, Kuji, and even Kirakira. Those are great for retro Polaroid and glam glitter filters. I might even do a post on my favorite pictures I've edited. Lastly, I have a Pinterest board dedicated to preset tutorials and picture ideas and you can follow that board here.
