"Wow, so like where have you been?"
I know, it's been a while. Long story short, I am a college graduate, I have real work experience, and I've been doing some traveling. Look at her being an adult. We love a well rounded queen!
Back to the point of this blog post. Upon the great amounts of fashion inspiration that I have received from February 2020's New York Fashion Week, I've decided I want to write about my trip to New York last September. You can also click on my pictures to find out where I got some of my clothes from that I styled for my trip. Listen, I know the September 2019 New York Fashion Week was at the beginning of the month, but I ended up taking the trip later that month. I would have loved to see more Fashion Week street style while I was there but it genuinely was the best time for my first visit.
Hello, beautiful people! I was going through my site and I realized that I have never posted a haul. For someone who manages to shop more frequently than her bank account would like, (not just for clothes, I shop for random stuff all the time) I thought that having a post about my newest pieces for this month was necessary. I've done quite a few trips to the grocery store this past month, along with too many random Target and Walmart runs to even actually admit, but I'll just show the clothes because those are always the most fun to see.
This mini haul is a compilation of clothes, shoes, and jewelry that I've gotten from Depop (one of my favorite thrift/resold items selling app), GS Love, Nike, and Cymonne's boutique. As always I have links for things that I have purchased, however the items from Depop were previously owned and lightly used clothes and shoes, so I wasn't able to find the exact stores in which they came from. I did of course find affordable alternatives to these items from online stores like Poshmark, again another place to buy lightly used clothes. Go ahead and take a look at the things I bought this month and click on the images to checkout where to find them.
So I'm a 90s kid and I often find myself wearing 90s and even 80s inspired looks without even really trying. (Well, it kind of makes it easy when you have too many high wasted jeans, yes many of them are acid wash, and you wear denim jackets with everything) I wore this look about two weekends ago and I'm just looking at the pictures now thinking, wow this is pretty 90s effortless grunge but still modern day "appropriate." The only item I was really missing was a chocker, but everybody and their grandmother is wearing a chocker now so I can do without one for this post. As always , I try to include links to everything I feature or atleast to something similar, so check out the pictures below.
If you're into fashion and great clothes then you've already been informed about the huge Nordstrom 2016 Anniversary Sale, which is their biggest sale of the year. (*Psst, the sale ends in 3 days*) Even if you're just moderately into clothes but you find yourself watching a lot of back-to-school Youtube clothing hauls, you should have heard a little something about it by now.
As a very broke college student, who is unfortunately anticipating having to buy hundreds of dollars worth of books and supplies and parking passes, it saddens me to think that I'll have to be wearing a majority of my Summer clothes into the Fall because I'll be poor to buy key Autumn pieces. But then something as amazing as as one of the epitome of clothing department stores, Nordstrom, comes along and does their biggest sale right before classes start. It's miracle! (Not really, they do this like every year). I'm all happy and scrolling through the catalog and then I get sad. Don't get me wrong, the sales a pretty good considering it's primarily towards high end brand items for cheaper, but I'm still too poor for the sales. (*cue silent weeping*)
So I deciding to pick a few of my favorite pieces for Fall from the #Nsale catalog and find similar items for even cheaper. So you can save some $$$!
Go ahead and take a look at my picks and tell me what you think. If you're interested in any of these, I have links on everything. Remember the #Nsale ends soon, so if you want to check it out, click here.
Hope you enjoyed!
There are some days that I get so lucky that I just get up and the first two pairing I think of come together to make a great look. I recently paired a cropped hot pink halter top and a black stretchy pencil skirt and created a sophisticated dress-type ensemble.
I love Wendy's Lookbook and her sense of style. I saw Wendy's look a week ago on Instagram and fell in love so much that I decided to recreate it as a dress for less look. Designer clothes are great and all but the prices are high.
You've heard of "Power Suits," most commonly worn by women working in corporate positions or other levels of authority in the business world. I'd like to introduce you to the "Power Dress." This LRD, little red dress, basically defines simple and elegant. It's so versatile that it can be worn for a business type work, as a brunch date look, and for a wedding guest.
I'm throwing it back to when I wore this 1980s and 1990s inspired look. What can I say, I'm a 90s kids in love with the 80s charm. I think my love stems from the music and movies of the 80s. The uniqueness it brought to the world, mostly in the American culture, is still a source of inspiration in these modern times. I love the look of the 80s and 90s and I quite often recreate my outfits in dedication to these two decades.
Being Nigerian and being absolutely in love with Ankara prints and clothing, I thought it was very necessary for me to include a feature on one of my favorite dresses that I own. This green, glittery gold, and white dress was inspired by a black and white patterned dress I spotted on Instagram. I got really lucky with the fabric because when I had gone to the Downtown LA Fashion District, I found it in a store and it was down to the last few yards left.
I've noticed that many people find it difficult to figure out what to wear to work. I've read about it on other blogs, there are magazine articles dedicated to work attire, and my friends have told me that sometimes they don't know what to wear to an interview or their first day of work. This mini-series, "What to Wear, Work it!" is here to assist people in finding the most appropriate outfits for many different fields of work.
